ABOUT US

Mission Statement

We strive to maximize the sense of self in the community, while instilling value in faith, family and fun, as well as building responsibility, reason and respect, thus preparing the next generation to be leaders of the days to come.

Vision

The vision of LMNH is to build a generation of young adults who are equipped for the challenges they’ll face throughout life. The students who participate in our program will be empowered to think independently and live outside of popular influence. The program will help students earn respect and build a reputation of credibility. In addition, they’ll be outfitted with a portfolio of experiences and accomplishments to help differentiate themselves as they apply for higher education programs and enter the job market.

Letter From The President

Growing up in inner city Columbus, OH has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me for three reasons. One, I experienced the highs and lows of the Columbus public school system. Two, I was able to grow up in one of the fastest growing and most diverse cities in the United States. And three, I grew up a diehard Buckeye fan, and eventually received the opportunity to live out my dream on the playing field.

Elementary through Junior High I attended Columbus Spanish Immersion Academy, where I was literally immersed in Spanish culture for nine years. In the fifth grade we even took a trip to Mexico City. All throughout my childhood and youth I was blessed to be able to frequently take trips out of the state and country because of my father. I’ve taken so many trips that I began to think that it was normal and that all kids my age took these kinds of trips. I continued with this mindset until my senior year in high school when I joined my father to his second Super Bowl in three years. It was then that it hit me that most people have never seen things that the select few of us have experienced. I will never forget what it was like to get on an airplane with college teammates who had never been on an airplane before.

It also wasn’t until I enrolled into the Ohio State University that I realized just how much of a disadvantage I was at in comparison to other students my age. I graduated in the top eight percentile of my High School, but we had a limited selection of college credit courses offered in Columbus Public. So while I may have been taking calculus and photography my senior year, I could have been taking Advance Placement Economics and calculus, courses that would later prove essential to my academic career.

Long story short, the mission of the Look Ma' No Hands Organization is to be able to help bring these advantages to the youth who may be missing out on them. The goal of the Leadership Academy is to have a designed after school program with an actual curriculum that’s designed to bring out the leader in our youth so that they make decisions based on what they know is right rather than what their friends are doing. We plan on doing this by offering positive and successful role models who have made the same journey that the youth are facing, so that they can model a path to success from these models. In the long run, this will have a great impact on our community and energize Columbus as a whole. Thanks in advance.

Allow our youth to dream by supporting this cause.
God Bless and Go Bucks!

Respectfully,

Dionte’ J. Johnson
